Asthma

What is Asthma

People suffering from asthma have sensitive airways in their lungs. When they are exposed to certain triggers their airways narrow, leading to difficulty in breathing

These changes produce airway obstruction, chest tightness, coughing and wheezing.

Asthma affects over two million Australians, and it can start at any age, though it is more common in children.

Signs and Symptoms of Asthma

  • shortness of breath
  • wheeze
  • chest tightness
  • a dry, irritating and continual cough which gets worse at night and after exercise
